In fact it’s only 6.8kms or 7 minutes to be exact.

The panoramic views of the mountains from the Cross X Roads paddock ARE THE BEST and most nights there will be campers sitting out, enjoying the serene surroundings with refreshments and cameras.

Overnight stays are $30 per vehicle (regardless of the number of people)

Tents are welcome.

We are a NON POWERED site with basic amenities which includes a composting toilet, and a beautiful fresh water stream which comes straight from the mountain and is safe to drink.

On arrival, let yourself in the gate and follow the gravel road to the rear of the paddock. You will see the orange road cones directing you off to the grassed parking area. Find the best spot and make yourselves at home.

If you have transport booked,one of the friendly owners will be down to meet and greet you in the early evening.

Cross X Roads provides an easy option for transport to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

We are culturally informative, warm and welcoming.

Our one way shuttle service takes you from the Tongariro Crossing Carpark to the Mangatepopo Carpark.

We also offer a sunrise option which leaves from our front gate at 2.45am Although it seems ridiculously early, it is perfect for those wanting watch the sunrise from up high and also beat the heat and beat the crowds!
